Rainbows End by Abbie

Last Friday the Totara team went to Rainbows End. My favorite ride was the 'Goldrush'. It was fun so my team went on it two times. On the 'Goldrush' you are in a cart and you go in a big cave. You think you are going to go straight but you turn the coners, it is so much fun. My other favourite ride was the 'Log flume'. The 'Log flume' is when you are in a log and you go up and up and up. Then we went through a cave and at the end you go down a big, big slide. When you go down you lose your stomach, it is so cool yeah! I had lots and lots of candy floss and hot chips, yummy!
The people in my group were Jayde, Jaylee, Alyssa and me. Our parent helpers were Craig and my mum Robyn. yeah

Rainbow Ends Trip by Raymond

On Friday A1 went to Rainbows End. It was fun I went in to the 'Invader' which is a new ride. It was fun. It spins around in circles and moves up and down. These are some other rides that we went on Gold Rush/Log Flue/Power Surge/Mini Golf/Pirate Ship, but my favourite was the INVADER! We went in teams, our team had Kataraina/Araman/Pareeya/and me. Araman was scared to go on the Invader and Power Surge but me and the girls were brave to go on both of them. It was the best trip that I have been to and the camp too in term two. But the Rainbow Ends trip was in term four and our teacher says that there will be a trip again which I am really looking froward to. I hope it can be Rainbow Ends again because that trip was awesome for the end of the year. Well are almost at the end of the year for 2011.

Rainbows End by kataraina

After lunch we went back on the rides again. A1 went back to Rotorua on the bus and my dad and I went back to my Aunty's. Then we went to church before my dad and I went back to Rotorua.

Some of the rides were really scary like the 'Fear- fall' and the 'Roller coaster'. Some people could'nt go on some other rides because they were too small. Most rides had a maximum limit for height.

On Tuesday Mrs Owen took a photo at her house. As you can see the hail is on Phoebe's trampolin. In the middle you can see it is sinking down a little because there is lots and lots of hail in the middle. The hail was at least a cm thick or more. It was hailing and raining hard out yesterday. In The Holidays-By Raymond

In the holidays I went to the movies. I went to see a new movie it's called Real Steel. The fighting in the movie was different, it was boxing but you get to move the robot and it will do what you want it to do. You get money if you win the fight and you will be the worlds best robot fighter. This is a fake story because there are no robots on Earth right now but there are some robots in space. They stay up there in space they can't come down to Earth. I ate an ice-cream/popcorn and a drink. The finals was a little robot v.s a big robot. The little one won because he waited for the robot to get weak then he killed it with one punch to the head right in the middle of its head. So that robot got a head shot in the robot head. The robots didn't have guns they just used their hands- kind of like boxing.

Wearable Arts A1- By:Suhawna

Last term during Art Week A1 did Wearable Arts. We could work with a buddy or by ourselves. I worked with a buddy. My buddy was Jaylee. Jaylee and I thought we would make a marae lady's costume. We started with the dress then did the cloak. While they dried we made glittery feathers. After the cloak and the dress were dried I painted patterns on them. The cloak dried the fastest and then we could glue the glittery feathers on. Then we put it together and it was hard to walk with it on.

Doohan dislocated his elbow when he slipped over on the grass after he kicked the ball. It must have been very painful. He had his arm in a sling for a week. We are hoping that he will be ok for the Inter-school Gym champs at the end of the week. He is a good sports person.

This one is made out of different types of clothing
On Friday A1, A2, C1 and C2 went to the Museum. We went to the Museum because we went to see the Wearable Arts. We looked at some of the designs that they had on people. The one that I liked the best was the 3 Dimentional one. I have no idea how they came up with these ideas. It probably took them about 3 weeks to do it. We also went to do some activities and Sion, Haruka and I was the first to complete the sheet

She used recycled things for her costume. Her friend was an angel, most of her costume was white. There was a jelly fish costume but the person that made it was sick so the person didn't come to our school. It was huge. It took them 2 hours per week for 11 weeks to finish it.

The Endeavour by A1

We have been studying about the famous explorer Captain James Cook. Ethan has completed this fantastic piece of Art work depicting the Endeavour, Captain Cooks boat. First we sketched our boat on draft paper; next we cut out the shapes of the boat, mast & sun with tissue paper; then we washed over the tissue paper with water so the dye came out onto the paper. When it was dry we used a felt pen to fill in the details & pasted on our sails with striped tissue paper.

Netball By Brittany

In netball I am goalkeep(Gk) so a have to stop the person on the other team getting a goal. I am ok at at netball & am learning the game..
When you play netball you can't run with the ball. If you run with the ball you will get pulled up for it. In a netball game there are seven players playing at one time.

For me netball is a good sport to play in winter at school.

My Mushroom Collection-Haruka

I have a mushroom collection, I love mushrooms! When I was about five,my mum and I were walking past a Motel, and I saw a lot of toadstools on the lawn outside the Motel! Thats when I started liking mushrooms(toadstools). I still like mushrooms now and my collection is still growing and I have more than this but I just brought these. My friends and family already know that I love mushrooms so whenever I go to Japan for a holiday, they always give me mushrooms stuff! Most of my collection has been given to me. Jump Jam by Doohan

Jump- Jam by Doohan

This morning we had Jump Jam. Jump Jam is something that we do for fitness. We follow a man do all these dance moves on the projector. The man dresses up in a costume, like a 'Shrek' costume and he tells you what to do. Today we did a High School Musical song and all the boys ran around the room. At the same time all girls stayed where they were and petended to talk on the phone.

My Netball Game By Abbie

Yesterday, 25th of August, Glenholme School competed against St Michael's in sport. I played netball and we had a great day. Glenholme won both of their games of netball. St Michael's lost because they didn't get any goals. However, they did have fun and that's the most important part.

I felt scared because I thought that we would lose. I played W.D. that means Wing Defence. I wonder how it would feel to play a game with other children with disabilties?

Haruka's 'Endeavour in a Bottle'

A Ship in a Bottle- by Mrs Owen

We are currently studying about explorers. Captain Cook was the second European explorer who discovered New Zealand. This is a photo of our 'Ship Endeavour' in a bottle. First we had to colour in the symmetrical picture of a tall ship. Next we cut it out being careful not to cut the picture in half. Then we folded the edges, made our tape double-sided & placed the ship in the bottle. (Mrs Owen cut off the bottom of our bottles) Lastly we pushed the bottle bottom into place.
